  • Booker's Half-Brother Coodarady To Debut

    Wednesday, 11th August 2021

After an encouraging barrier trial win on July 30, the Chris Waller-trained Coodarady (Capitalist-Noondie, by Flying Spur) will make his debut this Wednesday at Newcastle. Bred and sold by Mill Park Stud, the $380,000 Magic Millions Yearling Sale purchase is a half-brother to sensational Gr1 Oakleigh Plate winner Booker (Written Tycoon), who is herself due to foal this season, her first, to Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible. Raced by a large group of owners which includes Coolmore, Sir P J Vela, Chris Waller Racing, Lynque, Peachester Lodge Pty Ltd, Rockingham Thoroughbreds, the colt will race in the silks of part-owner Woppitt Bloodstock, the family racing syndicate of Debbie Kepitis. While the race does appear very open with 14 final acceptances, the favourite Publicist (Written Tycoon-Lady Lakshmi, by Lonhro) comes into the race off a debut second and looks hard to beat, while Chris Waller has a strong team with five of the 14 acceptances highlighted by $1.15m yearling purchase Greater Harlem (Hinchinbrook-Harlem Heat, by Xaar). Another one who could be a candidate with the step up in trip is the John Thompson trained Taizai (Maurice-Brazilian Pulse, by Captain Rio), a veteran of just two starts who has continued to improve each time at the races.
