  • Mossfun's Frankel Colt Impresses Again

    Wednesday, 11th August 2021

After breaking his maiden in stunning fashion three starts back by over seven lengths, the Emirates Park-bred and raced Dajraan (Frankel-Mossfun, by Mossman) produced another outstanding performance to win over the 1400m at Leicester, by just shy of three lengths. Trained by Kevin Ryan, the second foal of Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Mossfun has now had eight starts, finishing in the top four on four occasions, with both victories being impressive. Purchased for just $85,000 at the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Fairview Park Stud, the Hawkes Racing-trained Mossfun opened her juvenile career with victory in the Inglis Nursery, Gr3 Widden Stakes and the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes before losing the unbeaten run when finishing second to the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake (Exceed And Excel) in the Gr2 Reisling Stakes – with that result being revered in the Gr1 Golden Slipper, when Mossfun took the prize. Unsuccessful in four starts at 3, Mossfun was covered by Coolmore's Champion Sire Fastnet Rock in her first season at stud, with the unraced filly named Tumooh ready to foal her first foal this season, having been covered by I Am Invincible. Mossfun was sent to the United Kingdom, where she was covered by Frankel in two consecutives season with Dajraan being the 3YO, while the 2YO named Sadmah, was a winner this season too. Mossfun has since foaled a filly by I Am Invincible last season in Australia and is back in foal to the same sire.
