  • Cummings Expresses Confidence in Cascadian

    Friday, 3rd September 2021

Godolphin's head trainer James Cummings has all but forecast that Saturday's winner of the Gr2 Tramway Stakes will emerge from the horses that ran two weeks ago in the Gr1 Winx Stakes, a race where several runners were disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control. Amongst that cohort was the stable's Gr1 Doncaster winner Cascadian (New Approach) who did well to finish as close to the winner as he did. "He was really launching his sprint when he suffered a pretty bad hampering," observed Cummings. "Plenty of winners will come out of that race. I would be surprised if the winner of the Chelmsford doesn't come from it." Scouting ahead for further Group 1 glory, Cummings said, "It's a good weight-for-age contest at Group 2 level. I think it is the perfect race for him en route to the [Gr1] George Main." Assuming Cummings's assessment vis-à-vis the source of the winner is on the money, Think It Over (So You Think) and She's Ideel (Dundeel) are also big chances. Badly disadvantaged when starting to unleash his run in the same race, Master of Wine (Maxios) is better than his $20 price indicates.
