  • Seventy Fifth Running of Gr1 Flight Stakes

    This year’s seventy-fifth running of the ATC’s Gr1 Flight Stakes, final leg of the Darley Princess Series for 3YOs, has been recognized with a $250,000 boost to take the race’s purse to $750,000. Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing and Wagering James Ross said: “Darley as one of international racing’s largest and most successful racing and breeding operations is a key partner for Sydney’s growing Spring Racing Carnival.” Vin Cox, Managing Director of Godolphin Australia, noted: “Whether a trainer, owner or breeder, the Darley Princess Series at Royal Randwick rewards connections of the best three-year-old speed fillies. This year, Darley is rewarding the winning breeder of each leg a nomination to one of our champion racehorses: undefeated champion two-year-old Earthlight, the world’s highest-ranked racehorse for 2020, Ghaiyyath, champion 2YO in Australia, Microphone, and to the only horse ever to win three Group 1 sprints at Royal Ascot, Blue Point.” Cox added, “In addition, the filly who accumulates the most points across the Series receives a nomination to any Darley stallion on our roster the year she retires. Previous winners include Fiesta who was sold at auction for $1,350,000 this year and the nomination attached helped her promotion, she visits Exceed and Excel. Our long-standing partnership with the Australian Turf Club reiterates our commitment to breeders, owners and the thoroughbred industry.”
