  • Mandatory NSW Covid Vaccinations Unlikely

    Friday, 17th September 2021

Although Racing NSW has yet to issue a statement on the matter, New South Wales will not be forcing its participants to get vaccinated. Unlike Victoria, News Corp has learned that it does not intend to make vaccinations a condition of entry for racing and training centre participants, but will only encourage vaccination. No statement has yet been made by Racing NSW's chief executive, Peter V'landys, however in rugby league he has not demanded that players have the jab, but has instead warned that NRL stars may face travel problems with government authorities if they are not fully vaccinated. This problem, of course, could arise again in the case of racing, with jockeys and trainers. According to racenet.com.au, Racing Victoria announced it would become one of the first sports in the world to make vaccinations mandatory for all its participants by Caulfield Cup Day (October 16), while all Victorian staff and participants will have to be vaccinated with both doses by November 27 – with the exception of those with a legal exemption.
